Job Description: Male Support Worker & Mentor Client: Michael J Brealey Location: Upper Mount Gravatt, QLD (4122) Funding: NDIS Agency Managed (Participant #430 865 670) Position Overview Seeking a reliable, highly organized, and LGBT-friendly male support worker/mentor to provide community access, transport, and respite support. The goal of this position is to facilitate social participation and assist with daily living tasks while maintaining a regulated and comfortable sensory environment. Schedule & Hours Immediate start (Tuesday, Jan 6th) through to March 2026. • Tuesdays: 7:30 AM – 1:30 PM (6 Hours) • Thursdays: 7:30 AM – 1:30 PM (6 Hours) Note: Potential for additional ad-hoc shifts as required (e.g., weekend community access). Key Responsibilities • Community Access: Transporting the client to various activities (bowling, photography sessions, theatre). • Safe Transport: Providing transport in a comfortable, well-maintained vehicle. • Daily Living: Assistance with cooking and meal preparation at home. • Social Mentoring: Engaging in shared interests (musical theatre, songwriting, creative writing, piano). • Sensory Management: Maintaining a car environment that allows for client-led music choices and follows established sensory protocols. 4. Mandatory Requirements • Gender: Male (Essential for client comfort and regulation). • Values: Deeply LGBT-friendly and neuro-affirming. • Experience: Proven experience supporting individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). • Reliability: Punctuality is critical for a 7:30 AM start. Preference for workers under 50 years of age of Caucasian/White or Asian Australian background. Sensory & Environment Protocols • Car Environment: The worker must be comfortable with the client playing their own music (theatre/songwriting) during transport. • Footwear: The client is most relaxed when barefoot or in flip-flops. The support worker must be comfortable driving barefoot or in flip-flops during community access shifts to help maintain a regulated environment for the client. The worker should keep a pair of enclosed shoes in the car for specific venue requirements as needed.
